Plan your journey
Everything you need before you arrive.
Bhutan is one of the world's most rewarding destinations — and one of the easiest to travel, once the details are handled. Here's the essential guidance; your BLT travel designer takes care of the rest.
Best time to visit
Bhutan is beautiful year-round — each season has its own character. Your journey is timed to what you most want to see.
Spring
Warm days and rhododendron in bloom; clear skies late in the season and the great Paro Tshechu festival.
Blossom & festivalsSummer
The green monsoon — lush valleys, dramatic cloud, fewer travellers and warm, comfortable towns.
Green & quietAutumn
The clearest skies and finest mountain views, with the Thimphu and Jakar festivals. Peak season.
Clearest skiesWinter
Cold, clear and serene, with warm days in Punakha — and the black-necked cranes in Phobjikha.

Pick a month to see what Bhutan is like then, what’s happening, and which of our journeys suit it best.
Festival dates follow the lunar calendar, so they shift every year. We confirm the exact dates for your travel year.
Visa & Sustainable Development Fee
Every visitor needs a visa, which we arrange for you as part of your journey — you simply provide your passport details.
Bhutan also asks each visitor for a nightly Sustainable Development Fee that funds free healthcare, education and conservation — part of the kingdom's "High Value, Low Impact" philosophy. It is included in every BLT journey, and we confirm the current rate when we quote.
Current SDF rate confirmed at time of quotation.Getting there & flights
You fly into Paro International Airport on Drukair or Bhutan Airlines, with connections from Delhi, Kathmandu, Bangkok, Singapore and other regional hubs.
The descent between the Himalayan ridges into Paro is one of the world's most spectacular landings. We coordinate your flights and private airport transfers so arrival is seamless.
