Arrive into the Paro valley and drive to Thimphu, settling in with an unhurried first evening in the capital.

Day 02Thimphu, the living capital+
The Buddha Dordenma, the Memorial Chorten and the craft schools — an easy day meeting a young Bhutan and its traditions.

Day 03Thimphu → Punakha+
Over the Dochula Pass into the warm Punakha valley, ending beneath Bhutan's most beautiful fortress.

Day 04The Punakha valley+
Time in Punakha Dzong's courtyards where two rivers meet, a gentle walk through rice terraces, and an easy afternoon at the lodge.

Day 05Punakha → Paro · Tiger's Nest+
Return west to Paro and, energy permitting, begin the ascent toward the Tiger's Nest — or save it for a fresh morning start, at your pace.

A relaxed breakfast before your guide accompanies you to Paro airport for your onward flight.

Good to know before you go
When is the best time to travel?+
Most guests travel between February and May or September and November, when skies are clearest and the great festivals take place. Winter is quieter, and November to February is crane season in Phobjikha. Tell us your dates and we will suggest the best fit.
How physically demanding is this journey?+
Each day in the itinerary shows its own effort level, so you can see exactly what to expect. This journey is rated easy, with altitude ranging from 1,200 m (Punakha) to 3,100 m (Dochula). Your guide sets an unhurried pace, and any day can be softened.
Do I need a visa, and what is the Sustainable Development Fee?+
All visitors need a visa, which we arrange for you. Bhutan also charges a nightly Sustainable Development Fee that funds free healthcare, education and conservation. It is included in every BLT journey, and we confirm the current rate when we quote.
How do we get there, and what if the weather delays the flight?+
You fly into Paro, Bhutan's only international airport. Landings depend on the weather, so schedules can shift. We keep your first day flexible, and your guide meets you on arrival to adjust plans if needed.
Is this journey fixed?+
No. It is a starting point. Every BLT journey is private and tailor-made, so we adjust the pace, lodges, length and timing around you.
What does a journey like this cost?+
Every journey is priced for your season, lodges and group size, so we quote after a short conversation. Your quote includes your private guide and driver, transfers, accommodation, meals as listed, entrance fees, the Sustainable Development Fee, visa and permits. International flights are not included.
