Time with Bhutanese weavers, painters and traditional artisans.
Your route
West to east along Bhutan's central road — over the Dochula and Pele passes, through Trongsa, into the sacred valleys of Bumthang.
Day by day
Each day begins with a feeling, not a checklist. Tap a day to open it.
Day 01Arrive Paro · Thimphu+
Arrive into Paro's dramatic mountain valley and drive to Thimphu, easing into the kingdom's pace with a first unhurried evening.
Tea overlooking the capital as the light fades.
Day 02Thimphu, the living capital+
The Buddha Dordenma, the Memorial and the living craft schools — the young capital meeting its traditions.
A quiet moment with a master painter.
Day 03Thimphu → Punakha+
Over the Dochula Pass and down into the warm Punakha valley, ending at Bhutan's most beautiful dzong where two rivers meet.
Coffee among the prayer flags at Dochula.
Day 04Punakha → Gangtey+
A scenic drive into the wide glacial valley of Phobjikha — one of Bhutan's most beautiful — watched over by Gangtey Goenpa.
First sight of the cranes drifting over the wetland (in season).
Day 05The crane valley+
A full, gentle day in the valley — the black-necked crane centre, farmhouse life, and long walks under a huge sky.
Cranes circling the monastery three times, as legend tells.
Day 06Gangtey → Trongsa → Bumthang+
The heart of the journey east: over the Pele Pass, past the commanding Trongsa Dzong that guards central Bhutan, and on into Bumthang.
The first view of Trongsa Dzong strung along its ridge.
Day 07Bumthang, the spiritual heart+
The oldest and holiest of Bhutan — Jambay Lhakhang, Kurjey Lhakhang and Jakar Dzong, among apple orchards and buckwheat fields.
A butter-lamp offering in a centuries-old temple.
Day 08The valleys of Bumthang+
Deeper into the sacred valleys — a gentle walk, a farmhouse lunch, and the famous local honey, cheese and apple.
A slow afternoon with a Bumthang family.
Day 09Bumthang → Paro+
Retrace the mountain road west — or take the short domestic flight where scheduled — back to Paro for the finale.
A last look at the central ranges falling away behind you.
Day 10The Tiger's Nest ascent+
The walk up to Paro Taktsang, clinging to its cliff — climbed at your pace, with the monastery itself as the reward.
The monastery emerging from the morning mist.
Day 11Departure+
A relaxed breakfast before your guide accompanies you to Paro airport — the sacred valleys carried home with you.
